Welsh Association of Motor Clubs

Issue Number 4: June 2008

Not much has happened this month, so I’m struggling a bit to find some suitable material for you. However, here goes:

WAMC Website:
The website continues to be updated regularly and with minimum delays. We have discussed some possible changes and additions that might happen, but these need to be looked at in detail, prior to them happening. This should be a very useful tool, to keep everyone informed of what the WAMC is doing, and we should be making better use of it. Don’t forget, let John Upstone know of any problems or suggestions for layout changes or additions.

Events/Championships:
The various WAMC championship events seem to be going along very well, mainly, but there are some issues which are coming to light regarding organiser’s responsibilities for being included in the Championships.
If you plan to use your website to access regs for your event, please let the Championship Secretary know in plenty of time, so that registered contenders can be made aware of that.
Also, ensure that you have information packs available for the Championship Secretary, which includes all of the information necessary for them to carry out their role in the

proper manner and that any access passes for areas, such as service areas, are also included.
Little things like this go a long way towards getting a positive result, when looking at what events get included in the following year’s Championships.
It is also worth reminding organisers of Championship rounds, that they should have their event observed by an official of the WAMC, for inclusion in the following year’s Championship – it isn’t a case of it automatically being included.
Finally, you MUST submit a fully completed form to Jimmy Jones, for each Championship that you want to be included in. These are available via the website or from myself This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Regional Meeting:
The Go Motorsport initiative was launched on 11th June 2008. This initiative is being supported by some top names in motor sport, including Lewis Hamilton.
I’ve got a copy of the Powerpoint presentation, explaining this, which I will show at the next main meeting, time permitting.
The date of the next meeting is 20th August 2008, so let me know, by the 12th August at the latest please, (Geoff Field–This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you have any issues to raise on your behalf, and I will try to get them resolved.

Centre Meetings:
Northern Centre - 14th October.
Southern Centre – 7th October.
Main Meetings:
July 13th, October 26th, January 4th 2009.
The October meeting will see the attendance of Alan Gow - MSA Chairman, Graham Stoker – MSC Chairman and Colin Hilton – Chief Executive.
This is your opportunity to put any questions/issues that you might have, to some senior officials and I hope that you will do your best to support this particular meeting. It would be a shame for these busy people to come to a meeting where only a few Clubs are represented.

Annual Returns:
Thanks to all of you that have responded so well to my request for updates of your officials. I am now down to just 2 email addresses that are being rejected as unknown, and these are being resolved now.
Please continue to check the website for your Club’s, recorded information and let me know of any errors as soon as possible.
It is vital that member Clubs are kept informed of everything that the WAMC is doing, but that cannot be done if the contact information isn’t up to date.
It could also be costing you potential entries on events, if people don’t have the correct contact details.
