Welsh Association of Motor Clubs

Issue Number 2: March 2008

My apologies for this coming out later than planned – too many things to do for one pair of ageing hands. However, here we go:

WAMC Website:
The new website is up and running, with the only problem that we are aware of being that relating to the Firefox software having some compatibility issues with Frontpage. That is being looked at and will be corrected as soon as Firefox has a solution.

Events:
Can I remind people that, if you have to change the date for an event, can you let Jimmy Jones know as soon as possible, so that the dates information can be updated.
If the event is a Championship round, you MUST inform the Championship Secretary, so that they can go through the established procedure, to see if the change can be accommodated within the Championship.

The Legend Fires Epynt Challenge:
Congratulations are due to Chris Davies for an amazing job in getting this off the ground, and thanks to John Stone for sponsoring it. Current registrations stand at over 130 – all the more impressive when you realise that this is Chris’s first attempt at anything like this.

Regional Meeting:
There were no issues for me to raise at the meeting, other than to ask for an update on the rates being charged for Baja-type events in Forests. I was promised that figure, but to date it hasn’t been received. I will chase it, prior to the next meeting.

A couple of things that did come to light:
Volunteers In Motorsport – government funding ends in March, but the MSA will provide a budget for it to continue.
Another 100 or so Marshals have been signed-up in the last year, but it was pointed out that this doesn’t transfer to extra Marshals for all events, as they appear ONLY on WRGB.

Public Liability Insurance has been extended to provide £5million cover for Club’s social events.
New Interactive Website will have its facilities improved, and the IT systems now have a back-up in place.
Kevin Pay has left the MSA to pursue other interests.
The Bluebook DVD has been well received.
Project Funding was £1.2million last year.
Outline Planning Permission has been approved for the changes to Silverstone, but there have been some local objections to the additional houses being planned.
WRGB is NOT running as a WRC round.
The Norwich Union event was over-subscribed. It will take place again this year, with more start points.

Rescue and Recovery units had received £48K towards a spend of £150K.
The Club Development Fund is too difficult to fill in, and is being revised to overcome the problems.
The latest issue of wheels will be the first “electronic” version.

20 people attended the next generation Forum and 13 Ladies attended the Women In Motorsport meeting. Cheryl Lynch represented the MSA.
There are a number of Inter-Association events taking place, details of which have already been sent to the Club Secretary, so ask for the information if you haven’t already seen it.

The date if the next meeting is 21st May, so let me know (Geoff Field – This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) if you have any issues that you would like to have raised.

Centre Meetings:
A quick reminder to you all that the next Centre Meetings are also AGM’s, so please do your best to attend them.

Main Meetings:
April 13th (also A.G.M.)
July 13th, October 26th, January 4th 2009.

Annual Returns:
Please ensure that you complete these as soon as you have changes. Check the website for your Club’s recorded information.
